The Growing Business Together Academy met up for monthly networking on the 4th of August at the MBC Office in Accra to learn on Marketing & Branding and Understanding the Tax Regime of Ghana.
The first half of the session was built to help the 13 attending entrepreneurs appreciate the importance of personal and product branding in their respective markets. The second half focused on Understanding the Tax Regime to help the entrepreneurs obtain a broader knowledge on the taxation system in Ghana and help them identify their tax brackets.
Maureen Nakamura, Investment Analyst at MBC Africa held a brief presentation about the AfricSeed Platform and zoomed in on the platform’s registration terms for investors and entrepreneurs.
Building a Strong Brand
Georgette Amoako, Relationship Manager at Barclays Bank and facilitator of the session, shared the importance of building a strong personal and product brand. “This enables you to associate well with your target market, which will eventually lead to the growth of your personal network, attract more opportunities and establish credibility”, the manager shared. Georgette continued to encourage the entrepreneurs to use social media to better market their brands by sharing relevant and accurate information concerning their businesses, products and services. She went on to share the business journeys of well-known entrepreneurs in Ghana to give an illustration on how their personal brand affects their product brands.
Mr. Quarshie from Cushay & Associates took the entrepreneurs through theory on taxation and how it relates to their respective businesses. He also taught on the various types of taxes, offences and their associated penalties.
